Crafts for the Home :)

Last night I finished the few crafts I was working on.

Here is a little sign I made for the downstairs beach themed bathroom:

The board was next to nothing at Michael's, paint was 2 for $1 at Michael's, and those are real seahorses and real starfish that I got for like 50 cents a piece at the swap meet a couple years ago... I never knew what to do with them till now!

I love how it look in the bathroom:

I also did this for the kitchen.  My friend posted Pottery Barn's version on her blog and when I was at Michael's and saw the letters, I decided why not?

Our kitchen is red so it works. You can't see but the shadowing of the letters I did black.

Here is the other side of our kitchen if you're curious. We have all red utensils and stuff.

I made another thing but I'm going to wait to show it until I reveal the guest room re-do, cause it's going in there.  :)

Just some little things..

Hey everyone :)

I'm having blogging withdrawls, and I haven't really completed anything cool or new yet so I decided to blog some random things to entertain myself (and hopefully you) until I have something cool to show off. Which will be soon because I'm ALMOST done with a couple things and also have plenty more projects on my to-do list as well.

My husband is out of town on business, which means it's time for scrapbooking and crafts! I made a cute little scrapbook "Dolce themed" because my dad LOVES Dolce.. and I'm going to give it to him for a Father's Day gift. I didn't take pics of the scrap book, but here's the mess I made while doing it:

(Notice the pretty Gigi girl to the right)

Last night I had 2 girlfriends over and we started painting our own little crafts, we haven't finished yet but when we do I'll blog about what I made!

So as you know I'm working on decorating the other side of my bedroom that is still dull and ugly. One thing we DESPERATELY needed was a CLOCK, because my husband literally every single morning asks me "What time is it?" the second he wakes up. He does it seriously every day the moment he opens his eyes, and when I finally told him how much it annoys me, he started laughing because he knew I was right, and now it's our inside joke. We will randomly ask each other "What time is it?" at the most odd moments and crack each other up. LOL. We're weird. Anyways, so I found the most beautiful clock at ROSS for like $13!!!!

Here it is:

And remember the brown vanity table that we took the mirror off and set our tv on? ( from this post )
Michael painted it for me in Heirloom White :D

So that side of the room is slowly but surely getting prettier.

Last Saturday my friend and I drove down to San Diego for some shopping. We usually just go into the clothing stores, but now that I have developed an obsession for cool house stuff, as we were shopping I couldn't help but stop dead in my tracks when we passed this amazing store called Pangea Outpost and I saw this in the window:

Along with many other beachy themed things.... We walk in and I swear I was instantly like a kid in a candy store. There are different sections in each part of the store with amazinnnnnggg hand made crafts, home decor, gifts, etc etc etc! I got a LOT of ideas of things to make.  I took some pictures of the most beautiful store displays they had so I could share with you guys:

Am I weird?  I'm just in LOVE with this place!!!!

Oh and lookie what I got to add to my beach themed bathroom!

I hung that little cutie on the wall right above the toilet LOL.  I <3 it.

Well, that's all for now. I'm excited to finish the crafts tonight that I'm working on. I'm sure I'll blog them tomorrow.

I need to get this off my chest.

I don't know why, but I have a guilty conscience. (Did I spell that word right? I'm having a brain fart..)

Anyways, what I mean is I feel like I need to share with you guys certain blogs that are REALLY inspiring to me, and where I get a lot of my ideas from... because I have been told recently that people are impressed with me and what I've done and that I'm inspiring them.. but I can't take all the credit. I wouldn't have many ideas or much inspiration if I wasn't spending hours a day on different DIY blogs admiring these amazing projects.

I will post some examples, some things that I LOVE. You'll see what I mean...

First I need to start with the very first blog that introduced me to all this stuff.  My friend Kelsey from Fabulously Flawed.  She's pretty much amazing.

Check out this dresser she did:

Before

After

It's so pretty I could eat it!

Or how about this vintage hutch she did:

Before

After

SO perfect!

Now let me introduce you to my second favorite blog called The Lettered Cottage.  Not only is this chick ridiculously talented but she is a fellow blondie who loves her husband and has a Chihuahua that looks identical to mine. LOL! Okay now I sound like a stalker.... Anyways go to this link and it shows her cottage, and you can roll the mouse over each picture to see the before and afters of what she did. I'm obsessed!

Here is another blog that I visit daily, that I can't get enough of: http://www.centsationalgirl.com/.  I particularly LOVE her decorating skills.

Check out this ADORABLE laundry room before and after:

Or this bedroom (I think it's her daughter's room):

Gorgeous!!!

And now for my ALL TIME FAVORITE before and after project I have seen that I REALLLLLY want to copy someday (from a blog called Rocky Bella):

If I have a daugher, you better believe a replica of this WILL be in her nursery.  I think this dresser alone has made me decide to do birdies and pink as the nursery theme IF I ever have a daughter. *sigh*

Okay before I wrap this up, check this out too:

See what I mean?! I'm just blown away by some of the things I see on these blogs... it's soooo completely inspiring to me!

The fact that I am getting compliments on my blog and projects I've done is so flattering because not only do I feel like a complete amature but I feel so honored to be inspiring other people like I have been inspired by others. :) So thank you so much for the comments and compliments, it means the WORLD to me! :)

I love Turquoise

Hi blog readers!

I wasn't going to post this little project I did only because I know it could be so much better eventually. But, I'm bored at work with nothing to do and it is pretty cute what I did so far so I figured I'd share.

Our downstairs half bath is super tiny, and only has a toilet and a sink.  No cabinets or anything... so there's nowhere to put extra toilet paper rolls and stuff.  Our landlord put bamboo half way up the walls, which is why I decided that bathroom is the "Ocean Themed Bathroom."

So, a couple weeks ago Michael and I stopped at a yard sale down the street as they were putting everything away, and I asked the guy if he had any wooden stuff I could paint. :p  He pulled out this cute little cabinet in perfect condition and said it was only $10, so I took it! (Along with some free frames.)  I figured it would be perfect for our little bathroom but definitely not in dark brown.

So I got some turquoise spray paint in Rustoleum (actual color is called Aqua) and sprayed it!

Perfect place to put my little seahorse candle holder I got at Ross.  I have an obsession with seahorses.

Here is the other side of the itsy-bitsy bathroom if you're curious:

So obviously there isn't much room to work with in there, so the cabinet stands out and make it more fun and interesting, something to stare at while you're sitting on the pot. LOL!

I eventually want to distress the cabinet and put some seashell knobs on it, that is what I was waiting to do before sharing, but I'm impatient/bored so here ya go.

THE TABLE IS FINISHED!!!!!!

FINALLLLLLY.... after a TON of HARD work, my husband and I successfully completed the table/breakfast nook I found on Craigslist.  I still want to sand it down a bit and re-gloss it to make it smoother, and also need to distress the legs and stuff, but it's done for the most part and I am SO excited to show you!!!

Just a reminder, here is the before:

Here are a few pictures of the tedious process... We took apart the whole table, stripped all of the paint, and sanded it like crazy.. (my husband did most of the sanding, bless his heart):

Then we primed it with white spray primer:

Then we sprayed it with Heirloom White Rustoleum spray paint:

And we stained the top of the table and the top of the seats with Minwax wood stain in Dark Walnut:

And drumroll please....

TADA!!!!
Isn't she CUTE?!

Here's the bottom part, I love it:

My dining room has officially gone from being my least favorite part of my house to my FAVORITE!

I hope you like it, and I hope I've inspired some of you to tap into your creative side!!
Special thanks to my friend Kelsey at Fabulously Flawed for her guidance on this project since she ROCKS and has seriously done so many amazing projects that I admire her for!!! Go check out her blog, you'll  be so impressed.
I cannot wait to move on to my next project!
