Cole's Nursery Makeover

After some hard work and only $36.00 spent, I am finally done!

I decided that Cole's nursery needed a little bit of an update.  It started as safari theme, and it was cute, but I wanted something new.

I decided instead of a "baby nursery", we would make it a "big baby nursery".. Hehe.

I took a look around at what I had in there, and what I had to work with. I didn't want to make it expensive whatsoever. After all, my boy is only 10 1/2 months old!

We have tons of giraffe stuff, so I decided to get rid of the other animal stuff, and narrow it down to just giraffe decor.  I also made it a little bit more sophisticated and modern, so I am calling it a Colorful Giraffe big boy nursery. ;) LOL

Here is his nursery before:

After:

Small changes that made a big difference:
1. Moved the furniture around.
2. Painted the changing table.
3. Moved one of the shelves on the wall.
4. Put new decor on the shelves... using all of what I already had.
5. Created my own nursery wall art using Microsoft Publisher and put in a frame I already had.
6. Spray painted the letter C for the wall, and the picture frames.
8. Took down the leopard valances and put up some red curtains we had in storage. I wanted to get rid of most of the animal prints except for giraffe and I figured why not add a pop of color. :)
9. Where did we get that giant giraffe you ask? It's a long story, but my father in law works at a furniture store and we ended up with it... we named him Geoffrey and he has been outside in our gazebo area for months. I decided he would make a nice addition to Cole's room.

Expenses for this makeover (approximate):
1.  Can of oops paint from Home Depot for the changing table: $7.00
2.  Can of blue spray paint for picture frames and the letter C: $3.00
3.  Wood letter C from Michael's Crafts: $3.00
4.  Printing the personalized wall art Cole poster (created in MS Publisher for free and printed at Kinkos): $23.00

Grand Total: $36.00

This is now my favorite room in the house.

I think baby man likes it too!
